Demasoni Cichlid

Demasoni Cichlid
Pseudotropheus Demasoni

Length: 3.0"
Sex: The male and female both display the same color patterns. As they mature, males develop elongated ventral fins and grow to be a little larger than females.
Feeding: Demasoni cichlids should be fed a diet of foods that are high in vegetable content. Commercially prepared spirulina flakes and algae wafers are good choices.
Social Behaviour: Mild-mannered lake Malawi cichlid. Best if kept in groups of six or more. They are territorial and get more aggressive if kept in a small tank.

Up Keep: There should be plenty of rocks and caves for the Demasoni to explore and establish their territories. Minimum tank size is 50 gal. but larger is recommended.
Breeding: A Demasoni female will carry her eggs and fry in her mouth to protect them. Keep a single breeding male with several females because males show increased levels of aggression when breeding.
Comments: A small, hardy cichlid from lake Malawi. Good for a first Malawi cichlid. Suggest keeping twelve or more in a tank that is at least 50 gallons in size.
