Paradise Fish

Paradise Fish
Macropodus Opercularis

Length: 4.0"
Sex: Male has brighter color and longer fins.
Feeding: Omnivorous. Feed flakes, algae tables and live foods.
Social Behaviour: Adult males can be a little on the aggressive side. Two males will battle like Beta fish.

Up Keep: Large aquarium with lots of swimming space. Good idea to have hiding places for the female.
Breeding: Builds a bubble nest under a large floating plant or leaf. Remove female after breading and remove male about 2 days later.
Comments: I like Paradise fish. They are very active curious fish. They have been known to jump out of the water to grab food from your fingers. My Paradise fish did this often. The down side is the slight aggressiveness that they show and need to be kept with other fish that can put up with that.
