Cobalt Blue Zebra Cichlid

Cobalt Blue Zebra Cichlid
Metriaclima callainos

Length: 6.0"
Sex: Males tend to be larger and brightly colored. Also much more aggressive.
Feeding: Cichlid flakes, live or frozen brine shrimp(they have fun with live ones), freeze dried blood worms and algae.
Social Behaviour: A mildly aggressive lake Malawi Cichlid. Best kept in groups of 8 to 12 with several females for every male.

Up Keep: 73-80 degree water. Aquarium should be large with plenty of rocks creating passageways and caves.
Breeding: During Spawning the dominant male will allow the female to enter his territory. After spawning has taken place she will then join the other females. Feed juveniles baby brine shrimp.
Comments: Mine is kept alone in a 20 gallon tank. Loves to pull plants out of gravel and take them elsewhere. Also enjoys grabbing gravel in its mouth and spitting it out in the corners (bedding). I haven't been successful breeding him because of his aggressive behavior.
